Releasenotes eGroupware 1.6

What's new in eGroupware v1.6?

It contains uncountable improvements over the 1.4 release. To name a few:

• Complete new implementation of the filemanager DMS by means of Streamwrapper and WebDAV, ACL control on directories and files - the new architecture allows now uploading of big files.
• Implementation of new functions like multiple mail accounts and many bugfixes in the email client.
• Extensive new features for the tracker-application: for example escalation-matrix for tickets and automatic mail-convertion as a ticket.
• Improved calendar functions especially with recurring-events.
• Supplements and adaptations in the addressbook like appointment-view, custom fields, distribution lists shown in the contact directly and in the addressbook list, mulitiple categorization of contacts in the addressbook list.
• Improvement of the template functionality of the project manager and some bugfixes.
• Many useful extensions and adaptations as well as bug-fixes in all modules.

 Install AND update instruction are available from the setup manual (ManualSetup).

Download Tar and Zip packages from sourceforge.net. You need to download and install both of the following files:

• eGroupware-1.6.rc1.tar.bz2/tar.gz/zip
• eGroupware-egw-pear-1.6.rc1.tar.bz2/tar.gz/zip

Additionally you can install:

• eGroupware-gallery (Gallery2 port for eGW)
• eGroupware-MyDMS (no longer part of the regular release)
• eGroupware-iCalSrv (iCal Server)

Rpm packages are available from openSUSE build service for: openSUSE 10.2/3, 11, SLES 10, Fedora 8, RedHat EL 5, CentOS 5, Mandriva 2007/8. The former core applications MyDMS and iCalSrv are now separate packages.

Dependencies

• minium php 5.1+, recommended php5.2
• MySQL 5.0+
• Postgres 8.0+ (there are unconfirmed problems with 7.4 and 8.2 on update)

Please note / Erata:

• Make backups of your Database AND the filesystem(!), before attempting the update!

• important notes for SyncML users who plan to update to 1.6.003: SyncMLnotes1.6.003
• mysqli extension: there are reports, that the whole update process fails, if you do NOT switch to mysql (in manage header) before!
• SiteMgr and Website
  The new contactform and paypal button blocks in 1.4.002, require you to go to SiteMgr >> Manage sitewide moduleproperties and "search and register new modules" at the end of the page.
