iPhone and EGroupware - best practise in data synchronisation

The iPhone has evolved to one of the most popular phones and the daily business life is nearly unthinkable without it. For data synchronisation of appointments, contacts and tasks, iPhone in combination with EGroupware is the first choice in terms of usability and function.

For perfect data exchange between EGroupware and iPhone, an ‘app’ of our partner Synthesis Switzerland is needed and available in Apple's app store.

Highlights of EPL / iPhone data synchronisation:

- Select and invite participants to appointments from your iPhone.

EGroupware 1.6.003 security and bugfix release

The new release fixes 2 serious security problems, many bugs and implements SyncML 1.2

Nahuel Grisolia from CYBSEC S.A. Security Systems found two security
problems in EGroupware:

one is a serious remote command execution (allowing to run arbitrary command on the web server by simply issuing a HTTP request!).
the other a reflected cross-site scripting (XSS).
both require NO valid EGroupware account and work without being logged in!

Vulnerable are all EGroupware version incl. 1.4.001+.002, 1.6.001+.002 and the commercial EPL versions 9.1+9.2!

The problem is fixed in EGroupware's SVN (for 1.6 and trunk) and there will be a coordinated release of a new EGroupware version 1.6.003 by
Stylite GmbH / EGroupware project and publication of the exploits by CYBSEC S.A. on March 9th.

The security fixes are also included in the commercial EGroupware version EPL 9.1.20100309 and 9.2.20100309.


1.6.003 does much more then fixing the above security problems:

implements SyncML 1.2 support and many SyncML fixes
lots of bugs fixed since the release of 1.6.002

Award ceremony at CeBIT on 04-03-2010. For the seventh time IT-Innovations for SME were awarded in Hannover.

More than hundred guests, nominees and officials from politics, business and universities joined the award ceremony in the NORD/LB forum in Hannover.

A jury of 80 IT experts, professors, scientists and journalists rated more than 2000 products in 35 categories about their relevance for SME in regard of innovation and technical competence.

The eGroupware project is proud to present the 4th major release since the foundation of the project in 2003.

What's new in eGroupware 1.6?

Complete new implementation of the filemanager DMS by means of PHP stream-wrapper and WebDAV, ACL control on directories and files - the new architecture allows now uploading of big files.
Implementation of new functions like multiple mail accounts and many bugfixes in the email client.
Extensive new features for the tracker-application: for example escalation-matrix for tickets and automatic mail-conversion as a ticket.
Improved calendar functions especially with recurring-events.

eGroupware 1.6rc5 - 5th release candidate for 1.6 available

The final release will be on Tuesday 25th November 2008. There will be one more release candidate by the end of this week. It's very important for the quality of the release that all testers keep on testing every one of the release candidates (please no leaning back now and waiting for the final release)!

It's not yet an official release, but we're quite close. We are positive to get the official release within next 2 weeks.
